Final Stop - Zion National Park

Just when you think you have seen the most beautiful places on earth, you are amazed to find out that that is not necessarily true.  Such was the case when we visited Zion National Park in Utah!  As Utah's tourist bureau describes,  "....more than 4 million people come from around the world to feed more than their bodies. Most visitors today come to nourish their souls with the sight of the verdant valleys and vermillion cliffs of Zion...."
The colors of reds and oranges permeate your view and you are aware that you are seeing some of the most dramatic views of your life....it really touches your soul!
We were able to spend a couple of days hiking through this majestic land.  We both hiked the Riverside Walk.  Lee was able to take the Narrows hike where the Virgin River had carved out a spectacular gorge in the upper reaches of Zion Canyon.  He hiked through the river where he saw soaring walls, sandstone grottos, natural springs, and hanging gardens.
Definitely a bucket list item for anyone who appreciates the majesty of nature!

Stay tuned for our next Griswold adventure to Alaska.....blogs will begin in July 2018

Homeward Bound

On our way home we stayed overnight in Las Vegas.  We were able to get tickets for another Cirque de Soleil show called Michael Jackson One.  Again, what can I say about the acrobatic stylings of their performers.  It was just amazing to watch and, of course, the music was fabulous!  If I ever wanted to have my own sequined glove like Michael, there was enough merchandise being sold that I had my pick!

Our California Family

We were so blessed to spend a month with our west coast family which meant seeing our granddaughter Sophia quite often...we enjoyed Mothers' Day together with Amanda and her family....we attended one of David's band concerts, and celebrated Lee's 65th Birthday. In addition, Karen and I had a wonderful Ladie's Day outing which included lunch and a flight of wines. Spending time surrounded by so much love...it just doesn't get any better than that! Please enjoy some of our heartfelt memories through my pictures!

California 2017 continued.......

Another winery we visited was Solis Winery where we enjoyed a bottle of their Vino Rose which was amazing!  Again we delighted in sipping and noshing on a antipasto platter al fresco while surrounded by beautiful views.

On another adventure, Karen Martin joined us for a fun filled afternoon.  Our winery of choice was the Savannah-Chantelle Winery.....what a beautiful setting!  They had a charming gift shop and inviting tasting room.

In addition to wineries, Lee and I had an incredible opportunity to see the broadway show Hamilton performed at the historic Orpheum Theater in San Francisco. This was a Christmas gift that Lee gave to me....what a phenomenal experience! Lee put his name in a lottery and we were able to get tickets for a very reasonable price! Thank you Lee for a once in a lifetime event!

Other California Highlights

We love to visit wineries when we are in California......the first one we traveled to was the Guglielmo Family Winery where we sipped a Pinot Blanc from their private reserve collection and enjoyed our beautiful lush surroundings!
