Heading to New Orleans
We were happy to have an uneventful start to our day as we were now headed to New Orleans. The weather was beautiful and Lee paced the driving so when we arrived it was about 3 pm. When we turned off the highway, we were a little concerned because the road we were driving on was in major disrepair and we were in an industrial area. Was this where our waterfront RV Resort located??? After 1 1/2 miles we were, in fact, turning into the Pontchartrain Landing Resort. Our first impression was that it looked like a scene out of a cowboy movie.....all gravel sites. We checked in and then were taken to our site which is on Lake Pontchartrain. Lee's sister Rosanne and her husband Jim will be arriving Sunday and they rented one of the houseboat villas right next door to us. We met some very nice people who suggested we dine at the park's Grill Restaurant above the office... so we did. We arrived early, got a nice table near the bar, and listened to the live Friday night entertainment..I ordered a hurricane frozen daiquiri which was delicious. Our waitress was kind enough to let me try a real Hurricane which I did not care for at all..perhaps it was the bourbon..Lee had a local beer which he enjoyed and then we ordered a barbecue extravaganza of brisket, pulled pork, shrimp, potatoes and cole slaw...can you say spicy and salty! It was very good but I was not going to be surprised if drinking water all night was in our future. As we sat there, the place filled up with people...this must be the hot place on a Friday night. We took a little walk around to see the sights, so to speak, of the park, met our next door neighbors, and then it was off to watch some TV and bed. Tomorrow was going to be a very busy day!
