Jasper National Park

We finally made it to Jasper...we tried once before on another cross country trip to visit but there were forest fires at the time and the area was closed. I am glad to say that we were very happy to be there and we were treated to a very nice campsite complete with a little landscaped patio!
As we drove into Jasper National Park, we had beautiful views of the mountains.
We first took a short hike in an area called the peninsula. I just loved taking pictures of all the different flowers along the way
We walked down to the lake which was so serene.
We then took a ride to Lake Annette and took a walk on their paved trail around the lake...the water was so pristine
Before we headed back to our coach, we had a very nice picnic lunch and even saw our first elk up close!
When we got back, Lee proceeded to fix our entrance steps which no longer were working....after an attempt to put in a new motor, he read some literature about how metal shavings could be a possible problem ...so Lee gave a few good hits (bangs) and guess what? It worked. Then he caulked the outside of the entrance door since we found that the rubber mounding had pulled away which probably caused all that rattling on the road. I wish all our fixes could be so easy. Tomorrow we head to Dawson Creek, BC which is the beginning of the Alaskan Highway. Woohoo!
